Be An Inventor Course Overview
Be An Inventor Curriculum
HOW TO BE AN INVENTOR TEACHING KIDS REAL-WORLD
We know that over the next 10-20 years 75% of new jobs are in STEM-related industries (science, technology, engineering, math). The issue is how do we encourage -and inspire future leaders to pursue those occupations when fewer than 50% of high school students complete upper-level science or math courses. We need more kids excited about the opportunities to create new ideas in the STEM disciplines and become inventors and creators of products and services that will drive growth.
In this program, students are challenged to look for opportunities to solve real problems, and gives them a framework to communicate those ideas around them. Today, they’re inventors, tomorrow, they’re our leaders and innovators.
HOW WE CAN HELP
The "Be An Inventor" program helps develop the thinking skills to be able to thrive in the idea driven future. The program's goals are to inspire children to consider that every product, service or process they encounter is a result of an invention. We help kids decode how inventions are discovered and reconfigure them to create new ideas. But the skill sets they learn will be valuable for life. We help develop curiosity, reflection, convergent and divergent thinking skills - exactly what is needed to prosper in the new economy.
The foundation of our work is a methodology called Systemic Inventive Thinking (SIT). It is a proven, evidence-based, academically tested idea generation process based on decades of experience and used both in corporate and educational settings world-wide. It is an inquiry-based learning tool that uses convergent and divergent thinking models to come up with new inventions. Children who feel empowered to create new, creative and innovative ideas develop confidence and a broader worldview.
